Abstract

This study focuses on the Psychological and Sociolinguistic Perspectives: Mobile Phone Use on the Quality of Parent-Child Communication at the Usen Islamic Boarding School. The development of communication technology has caused the use of social media via mobile phones to spread to all ages and also occurs in relationships between family members such as parents and children. Where individuals who are far away can become close and conversely those who are close become distant, even as if they are not even beside or near them. Fathers, mothers and children when they are in the house after activities outside the house, it seems as if they are carrying out direct communication activities. However, in reality, they are all still busy with activities on social media using the communication media (mobile phones or laptops) they have. This study shows that mobile phone use has an impact on interactions between people. There are changes in the way of communication, the atmosphere of communication, the quality and quantity of communication. This also affects the communication that is established and built between family members.
